Region's First Burns Centre
Established in 2006 as Punjab's first dedicated burns department, with nearly two decades of specialised experience.
Survival. Healing. Function. Appearance. In That Order — and All of Them.
Established in 2006, Amandeep Hospitals became the first in the region to offer a dedicated burns care centre — addressing a critical gap in Punjab, where no exclusive burns department existed at the time.
The centre provides complete intensive care, state-of-the-art surgical facilities and holistic treatment under one roof, with internationally acclaimed plastic surgeons committed to outcomes that restore not just skin, but function, appearance and life.
Our focus is simple:
To save life in the first hours, heal the wound in the following weeks and restore function and appearance in the months that follow.

Region's First Burns Centre
Burn injuries range from minor wounds that heal with minimal intervention to severe, life-changing injuries that affect both appearance and function.
Burns are caused by flame, scalds from hot liquids, electricity, inhalation, acid and other corrosive substances, and friction. Treatment depends on the type, extent and depth of the burn, as well as the patient's age and underlying conditions such as diabetes or heart disease. Immediate care usually involves cooling the area with running water — except in electrical injury — and most burns beyond first degree need referral to a specialised burns and plastic surgery unit.
At Amandeep Hospitals we provide expert care through a specialised team of plastic and burn surgeons, supported by a burn ICU, isolation wards and dedicated operation theatres. Round-the-clock anaesthesia and surgical availability ensures timely, effective treatment of even the most severe burns — from first degree to the most critical fourth-degree injuries.
The Institute brings together:
Deep burns leave contractures that limit movement — especially of the face, neck and hands.
The Institute offers rehabilitation and reconstructive surgery for post-burn deformity, with physiotherapy and occupational therapy that help patients return to active, social lives.
Major burns demand intensive care, infection control, repeated surgery and long rehabilitation. The Institute is built to deliver all four without moving the patient.
Established in 2006 as Punjab's first dedicated burns department, with nearly two decades of specialised experience.
Fluid resuscitation, ventilator support and continuous monitoring for major and inhalation burns.
Isolation wards and strict protocols, because infection is the leading threat to a burn patient after the first 48 hours.
Operation theatres reserved for escharotomy, debridement, grafting and reconstruction with 24×7 anaesthesia cover.
Contracture release, scar revision and functional rehabilitation of the face, neck and hands after healing.
The Institute manages acute burns of all kinds and the deformities that follow them.
Fire, stove and blast injuries, often with inhalation injury to the airway.
Hot liquid and steam burns — the most common burn in children.
High- and low-voltage injury with deep tissue damage beyond what is visible.
Acid, alkali and other corrosive injuries needing prolonged irrigation and specialist care.
Airway and lung damage from smoke, requiring ICU and ventilator support.
Road-abrasion and hot-surface burns, often combined with trauma.
Burns in children, where fluid balance and scarring need specialist attention.
Tight scars restricting the neck, armpit, elbow, hand and fingers.
Hypertrophic scars, keloids and disfigurement affecting function and confidence.
Burn care is a sequence, not a single procedure. The Institute delivers every stage of it.
Fluid resuscitation, airway protection and pain control in the first critical hours after a major burn.
Ventilator support, invasive monitoring and nutrition for patients with extensive or inhalation burns.
Release of constricting burn tissue and removal of dead skin to prevent infection and allow healing.
Specialised antimicrobial dressings and regular dressing changes in an infection-controlled environment.
Split- and full-thickness grafts to close deep burns and speed healing of large areas.
Local and free flaps for deep burns exposing bone, tendon or joint, including microvascular surgery.
Surgery to release tight post-burn scars restricting the neck, hands and joints, restoring movement.
Pressure garments, silicone therapy, scar revision and laser options to improve appearance and comfort.
Living with a burn scar or contracture?
Old burns can still be treated. A reconstructive consultation will tell you what can be done to restore movement and appearance.
Get EvaluatedA major burn patient has lost the body's barrier against infection and fluid loss. Every part of the Institute is designed around that vulnerability.
Intensive care, isolation, theatre and rehabilitation are dedicated to burns — so the patient is never exposed to the risks of a general ward, and never needs to be transferred for the next stage of care.
What supports the burns team:
After the first 48 hours, infection becomes the greatest threat to a burn patient's life.
Dedicated isolation wards and strict protocols at the Institute keep that risk as low as it can be made.
A burn treated in a general ward is a burn at risk. Nearly two decades of dedicated burns care at Amandeep means every element of treatment is specialised.
The region's first exclusive burns department, with experience across thousands of burn injuries of every cause and depth.
Plastic and burn surgeons with international training and a focus on functional and aesthetic outcomes.
ICU, isolation, theatre and rehabilitation in one centre — no transfers during the most dangerous phase of care.
Treatment continues past wound closure to contracture release, scar revision and return to social life.
Seven coordinated stages — from emergency arrival to the day a patient returns to work, school and family.
Cooling, airway protection, fluid resuscitation and pain control on arrival.
Depth and extent mapped to plan fluids, surgery and the risk of complications.
Burn ICU support for major, inhalation and electrical injuries.
Escharotomy, debridement and early grafting to close the wound and reduce infection.
Isolation nursing, dressings and nutrition until the wound is fully closed.
Physiotherapy, splinting, pressure garments and occupational therapy to prevent and treat contractures.
Contracture release and scar revision where needed, and support returning to an active social life.
Facing a burn emergency?
Cool the burn with running water and come straight to Amandeep. Do not apply ice, toothpaste or oil.
Book NowA burn is healed when the patient returns to the life they had before it.
For one patient, that means a child going back to school without hiding their hands. For another, it means a worker regaining the grip to return to their trade, or a young woman facing the world with confidence again.
Our approach therefore extends well beyond the burns ward.
Intensive care through the most dangerous days.
Wounds closed with the least scarring achievable.
Movement of face, neck and hands protected and restored.
Because the real outcome of burn care is a life lived fully.
It is Surgeon + ICU + Rehabilitation + Patient.
Intensive care and isolation keep a burn patient alive through the critical days.
Grafting and reconstruction close the wound and rebuild what was lost.
But a burn injury is also a psychological injury — to confidence, to identity, to hope.
At Amandeep, clinical excellence is delivered with compassion — with one objective:
Plastic, reconstructive and burn surgeons supported by intensivists, anaesthetists and rehabilitation therapists.

Cool the burn under cool (not cold) running water for 10–20 minutes. Do not use ice or very cold water, as it can deepen the injury, and do not apply toothpaste, oil or butter. Cover loosely with a clean cloth and seek medical care. In electrical injury, make sure the power is off before touching the person.
Seek care if the burn is large, deep, or affects the face, hands, feet, joints or genital area; if blisters form; if it is electrical or chemical; or if the person shows signs of shock such as dizziness or difficulty breathing. Most burns beyond first degree should be seen by a burns unit.
First-degree burns affect only the outer skin, causing redness and mild pain. Second-degree burns reach deeper layers, causing blisters and intense pain. Third-degree burns destroy all skin layers and may involve underlying tissue, appearing white, charred or leathery — and fourth-degree burns extend to muscle and bone. The Institute treats all degrees.
Clean the burn gently with mild soap and water, apply a sterile dressing and change it regularly. Do not break blisters. For anything beyond a minor burn, professional wound care and, where needed, antibiotics are the safest way to prevent infection.
Minor first-degree burns can be treated at home with cooling, pain relief and a clean dressing. Second- and third-degree burns, or any burn with significant pain, swelling or blistering, need professional care — and deep or extensive burns need a dedicated burns unit.
Scar treatment may include silicone gel sheets, pressure garments, physiotherapy, and surgical options such as scar revision, contracture release or skin grafting. Follow-up with a burns and plastic surgery specialist determines the most effective plan for each scar.
Whether it is an emergency tonight or a scar from years ago, a dedicated burns centre makes the difference.
Bring your burn to the team that has treated them longer than anyone in the region.
